General Program Description
Expression of Hope is a global program of goodwill and awareness featuring works of art from the community touched by lysosomal storage disorders. These works are meant to share feelings of hope and to be an expression of spirit, strength, and the artist’s innermost self. People living with LSDs and their caregivers are invited to submit artwork, which will be shared with the community.
Genzyme Corporation (“Genzyme”) is the sponsor of the Expression of Hope program.
I. ENTERING THE PROGRAM
 | Those interested in taking part in this unique program are asked to create a piece of art (“Artwork”), photograph it, and then upload (or send via traditional mail) a picture of the Artwork, which will then be attached to/included with the submission form.
 | All entries submitted into the Expression of Hope program must be entered via the approved submission form by March 31, 2006. This form can be found at ExpressionofHope.com or by contacting Genzyme in the United States at 800-745-4447 or 617-768-9000.
 | Each entrant must agree to this Expression of Hope Program Agreement in order to be considered eligible for the Expression of Hope program.
 | A completed submission form must include a photo of the Artwork.
 | Please note: After submitting your Artwork via the Expression of Hope website, you will receive an email confirming your entry. This email will confirm receipt of your entry into the Expression of Hope program as well as confirm we have received a valid email address. If you submit the submission form via regular mail, we will confirm receipt in writing.
 | All entrants should be prepared to submit a short personal statement describing the Artwork.
 | All entrants will receive a program book of selected Artwork photographs and possibly other items as deemed appropriate by Genzyme. |
II. SELECTION OF FEATURED ARTWORK:
 | Each entry submitted into the Expression of Hope Program is first evaluated to make certain that all required questions and fields on the approved entry form have been completed.
 | Each submitted entry will then be judged on artistic merit and the Artwork’s ability to convey an insight into the world of an individual living with an LSD. Our panel will select works based on the technical and emotive quality of the Artwork along with its ability to infuse the viewer with insight and appreciation of the hope and spirit of the subject.
 | Approximately 15 pieces of Artwork will be selected as “featured” (each a “Featured Artwork”) by an impartial panel comprised of 3-5 art professionals and educators.
 | If your artwork is selected as Featured Artwork you will be notified via a special mailing sent to their stated address and each entrant will be required to read, sign and return documents relating to submitting his or her original Artwork.
 | The decisions of the panel with respect to what is selected as Featured Artwork are final.
 | Artists who have submitted Artwork with the appropriate documentation on a timely basis will be announced as part of the Expression of Hope program on the Expression of Hope website in May, 2006. |
III. ELIGIBILITY
 | Only entrants who have submitted completed entry forms will be considered eligible.
 | This program is open to the worldwide community without consideration of an applicant’s nationality, ethnic background, gender, or other qualifying characteristic.
 | This program is open to individuals of all ages.
 | Any applicant who is below the age of consent in their particular region must have the approval and signature of a parent or legal guardian. |
IV. RIGHTS OF USE
By submitting an entry for consideration, you are agreeing that, regardless of whether your Artwork is selected as a Featured Artwork in the Expressions of Hope program, Genzyme shall have a nonexclusive, perpetual right and license to use any image or reproduction or any other form or likeness of your Artwork (including the submitted photograph of the Artwork) for purposes of its Expressions of Hope program.

 | In addition to the submitted art selected for the traveling show, other pieces representing individuals living with LSDs and created by artists from the Massachusetts College of Art will be displayed as part of the exhibit and in the online Expression of Hope Gallery. These works represent collaborations that took place early in 2006 between the artists and individuals in the LSD community.
