MassArt Collaboration

Working together with the Center for Art and Community Partnerships at Massachusetts College of Art, in Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A., Expression of Hope invited eleven artists to participate in the program and to create a total of 15 artworks representing their individual collaboration with people around the world who live with an LSD.

Through many hours of virtual collaboration other via phone, video conference and email a mutual understanding was developed for how to best capture and express the essence of each person’s unique experiences of living with an LSD. These virtual collaborations involved the sharing of videos, favorite objects and even music in the pursuit of creating a compelling vision shared by both the artist and the subject.

Justine Crosby, Massachusetts College of Art

“My attempt to portray Vanessa’s struggle with Gaucher disease required great understanding and intuition. I hope I was successful and am grateful for this opportunity to take part in such an intimate experience.”

Vanessa, Collaborator

“The artwork is pretty, full of details. I had to look many times to identify its hidden secrets. The artist is very kind and talented. This artwork is a gift to me as I viewed it just before my birthday.”

You can view these works in the Expression of Hope Gallery in the Collaborations area.
